


GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Providencia and Santa Catalina are islands belonging to the
San Andres and Providencia archipelago.
Geographically, they are located in the southwest of Colombian Caribbean
Sea, between 8120' and 8124' north longitude and 1319' and 1324' west latitude,
448 miles north of Cartagena.
WEATHER
Providencia Island has a tropical climate with a pleasantly warm temperature of 28C on average.
BIODIVERSITY
Besides its colorful landscape adorned with native style,
and its happy and friendly people, Providencia is a natural reserve (McBeen
Natural National Park) with keys and oceanic shallows and banks, and is
the Colombian sea
zone with the most extensive reef areas. This means that it has ecosystems
with a large number of species and beautiful landscapes, very attractive
to scientists and divers. Moreover, this archipelago has been considered
as a
biosphere reserve.
GETTING TO THE ISLAND (Transportation)
Visitors can get to the island through connections between airlines from any Colombian or world city to San Andres and there you can take a comfortable 20minute flight to Providencia.
